Writing Assignment #2

If you could go to any lost country, city, land, for a month, where would you go? Allaneis is my version of Atlantis.

Sytargate to Allaneis

On Account of Selvius: Chapter One

“Selvius Ayutthaya was one in a million. He was the scholar in which many myths have been made. One of his most famous writings is Braggadocio the Might. Braggadocio was based on a true man, and his name was Slyvan Sly Slongo. He was a pirate, for all knew and feared him. Selvius and Slyvan were good friends, though Selvius did not steal. Braggadocio the Might was about Slyvan’s adventures through the Unwanted Forest. Selvius and I were also great friends… until Slyvan died. Slyvan was the bond that pulled Selvius and me together, and without him, I did not trust Selvius any longer. Selvius and I had later been pulled together to find the Sytargate to Allaneis.” I told to my friend, Mirsha. “Iris, Braggadocio the Might is true?” “Of course it is, Mirsha. Grandpa Slyvan was like the glue that stuck Selvius and me who was nine then, together. After that, Selvius wrote Braggadocio the Might.” I answered. “What’s a Sytargate?” she asked again. “A Sytargate is a gate guarded carefully by the Sytar and many booby traps. The Sytargate to Allaneis is the most protected Sytargate because it leads to the land of paradise: Allaneis. Allaneis used to be part of the world, but King Sonkan blocked it from the rest of the world and the places where he hid his treasures with Sytargates.” I answered. “That really does not sound realistic, Iris. I mean, if Selvius was nine at the time, than that must have meant you were also nine, right? And right now you are ten, so that was last year. Was that where you were last summer when you said you were going to Zibya, Acana?” “Yeah. Without grandpa, we are like dogs without leashes. We tend to get more mischievous without Grandpa Slyvan. He’s sly, so he gets us out of trouble. We got into lots of trouble on that trip… Remember that when I came back most of my clothes were ripped?” I said. “What was it like?” she asked. “What was what like? Going to
Allaneis or Zibya?” I returned her question with another question. “Well, I meant to say, what did you go there for?” she replied in a question-like tone. “So all of grandpa’s treasures got inherited to us through his will. When I first met grandpa, I thought he was the scariest person I ever saw. He had an eye patch that he said he got from his enemy, Alicia Rene, tousled hair, a sword and gun by his side at all times, and a really crooked smile. He was actually pretty nice, like Robin Hood. He usually stole from bad guys like Alicia Rene, the pirate who stole EVERYTHING. He stole the stuff back. But then, Alicia would accuse grandpa of stealing the stuff she “bought” and grandpa was deemed a worse pirate then Alicia, even though Alicia was much slyer than grandpa. So, he changed his name from Sylvan Sill Slongo to Slyvan Sly Slongo. I told you enough background information so time to go back to the story. So I inherited treasure, and we didn’t want to lose it, so we decided to put it somewhere safe till we needed it. We figured we needed to ask King Sonkan to give us permission to put it behind one of his Sytargates. We decided that the king we would meet would have to be King Sonkan, even though more than ten thousand years have passed, since they had such advanced tech that they could make Sytargates, right?” I took a breath, then a drink, and started again, “I thought that we would have needed a peace offering, like part of grandpa’s treasure, after all, King Sonkan is known for his stubbornness and greediness. Anyway, Selvius called me the day before summer break, and said that we probably should hide it somewhere safe, since
all his school knew about it and thought he would bury his share on the school ground. He said he didn’t want a treasure craze going on at his school. Imagine the chaos! So I asked and begged and cried and wailed and you know what I mean, to my parents, and they agreed after one week. Selvius had already convinced his parents, so we bought tickets to Zibya, where the Sytargate to Allaneis was supposed to be, according to my grandpa. Grandpa said that he had been to Allaneis once, fighting with Alicia. He had won most of the treasure we inherited that way.
